Creative direction for the 101 Best Tacos in Los Angeles, a deep-dive on the city’s most ubiquitous food. I drew on the iconic imagery of the late-night taco truck LEDs by splashing scrolling neon type wherever I could, and paired this with images assigned to amazing local photograhers including Andrea D’Agosto and Oscar Mendoza. This project–which included a digital guide to the (unranked) top 101, a special newsprint section, and collectible zine–has one of my favorite bits of news design, a center doubletruck that can be pulled out as a checklist to chart your way through the list (I’m currently hovering around 60).
