We built a digital archive and accompaniment to Poetic Practical, an archive of Chris Burden’s unrealized works. With guidance from the Chris Burden Estate, we brought to life a number of his works previously only rendered in conceptual sketches, diagrams, and tabletop models.

The full website experience leads viewers through a narrative journey through Xanadu, Burden’s “unrealized magnum opus” which itself forms a backdrop to an interactive timeline of his works. A “digital souvenir shop” of collectible video works concludes the experience, and proceeds from the collectibles support the Chris Burden Estate’s conservation and restoration of Burden’s realized works. Path to Xanadu as an overall summative work was added to the digital collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2024.
